Rainbows are painted backdrops Pigments on canvas that ripple when the stage hands Forget and turn the wind machines on Or trip over the cord and raise the doors Letting sunshine and wind Enter through stale cellular frames Over exposure and the burned out magic Gets discarded on the floor As so many bits of acting that didn’t quite Measure up to the dreams that followed A yellow brick road Nowhere was it written That Dorothy would fall as she did Or that the heartless hollow of tin Would learn to feel with more Than the rusted ideas and the past fade of eyes Down at the post office the brass boxes are lined up Numbered in the hundreds so that no one feels less Than the three digits they are known by When the letters come Oz has no zip code Only the colors and songs of some young girl With more heart than years Put the wrappers on and stamp soft words Hidden in the weave of fiber And much like the painted rainbows Only a part of what is real Dearest Dorothy It began in a cadence of propriety That hid the celluloid dreams and frames Still shot within the mind Of her hair beneath his fingers And the less hollow sound of her sigh Warm upon his cheek My dear girl, my heart is found only now Within the echo of the memories Made when you were here Seal the flap and savor one last feel Of the texture of words under your tongue There is no zip code in Oz Only a place where mail is left For those who come this way Now and then To read And dream |

Thank you ma'am.... glad you found something in it to enjoy. I wsn't sure when this was written if it was a passage of hope or a post script.... still not sure I know. But it is what it is. your eyes on my thin scribblings are always appreciated Belle.. thank you |
