Lightning In A Bottle I'm trying to put lightning in a bottle To save the flash and glare But, if I had it in my hand Would I just look at it and stare. Say, "What do I do with this? Where does it belong? Could I put it in a poem Or, maybe in a song? Could I make it glow Behind some distant cloud? Could I turn its' thunder To something, not so loud? Could I say,"I made that?" Would anybody hear? Would it be a distant rumble Or something, close and clear? Would they look behind To see that flash of light Or would they just think Something, isn't right? Could I take my hand And grab it from the sky And if I just missed it Would I wonder why? Lighning moves so fast A split second, maybe less And where it starts or ends I can only guess. But, if I could reach and grab it Hold on with all my might Wonder where it would take me (From the dark to the light?). But, guess I'll always wonder If I could move that fast If where I was the "start" Or if this was the last? To put lightning in a bottle Would surely be a trick But in the hours of a life 'twould only, be a tick!
