It`s so over-rated no metaphor needed so over sung over praised over dreamed seething in psyches steam of the ego only a transient physical thing five seconds of pleasure a cell-fired instinct not to be placed on a level with awe love, trust, companion respect, safety, comfort forgiveness and kindness and patience and law I am so over the throbbing the sobbing i know that I sound like a wrinkled up prune But when you`ve seen mankind all running in circles chasing the same tired hormonal tune no vanity graces or value it places upon its recipient past that small fire, Oh leave to the youth now discover the `magic` each generation thinks they go higher- wait till the sunset whenever it takes you sit by a death bed or surgery`s crib- let husband hold you when the tears shake you throbbing and sobbing that baby may live, oh then it`s not rated now is it? so passive un-sung how this passion can burn for a life- so much past a moment beyond the small pleasures un-sung, under-stated this passionate wife. |

Thank you, Slowly.. yes, this was born out of the anguish of sitting with my baby back when he was 2, 3, 5, etc.. in the children`s hospital, he has had many painful surgeries..going through that crucible of pain has changed me so much.. thanks for your reply ~Amaryllis |

This is incredible. I felt your anguish - and I was so caught up in flow of your words. It was like reading a river. Know what I mean? Love it. A |

Best wishes. Seems to me the poem started out anti-sexuality and then transitioned into the children's hospital room and the crying & hugging, etc. Interesting write. Abuse of power |

Thank you, Easy1.. Yes I meant for the poem to juxtapose the over-sensationalism of sex with what really matters.. not that I`m against lovin` with me hubs! lol Just.. when you go through things like that, it kinda puts it all into perspective.. if you know what I mean.. also I`m thinking this poem would have been better without the rhyme, which lends it a lighter feel than I intended, kind of a Dr. Seuss tone, lol! Nothing against the great Mr. Geisel, of course.. it just maybe wasn`t the right vehicle for this subject..? But thanks for reading! ~Amaryllis |

Dear Amaryllis, The first half of your poem represents about 99 percent of my writing perfectly. I know you didn't mean anything personal, but my scrbbles must sound like a broken record at times. I guess that's what happens when all you write about (me) is your vision of that perfect person, with all the passion, and true and meaningful substance, that comes along with it? I loved your poem, as always. You are very lucky to have what you have. Maybe someday I'll have that too? Hold on to that with everything you've got. I am sooo happy for you Richard xx |

Thank you, Bobby! . .And thank you, Richard.. you know I surely didn`t mean to take away from the value of passionate (romantic) poetry.. it certainly has it`s place, it is one of mankind`s greatest joys! I used to be more swanny.. but what we`ve endured has.. changed me. I used to think it `wrecked` me, but not anymore.. such strength has come from it. I have a much greater tolerance for anyone with disability or deformity (my youngest was born with a very rare facial defect).. and my other children are learning that same tolerance. . Someday when I am ready I will post a poem I wrote about the white-hot anguish a parent feels at their child`s hospital bedside.. it is so intensly personal (to me) and rather raw.. but I think it is a necessary message, at times. . Well thank you for being you, my friend! And yes.. carry on! . All best~Amaryllis |

I liken passion to oxygen. One doesn't care about it, unless you aren't getting any. Sorry about your child. I really know this feeling, for my youngest has had her health issues as well. Good luck Amaryllis, and I hope everything turns out ok. |
