Can't Find It Here Finding myself without a path I traveled from California to New Orleans now and not knowing where to look I found myself where others like me go an old church a tourist trap a photo-op all of the above. To the St. Louis Cathedral, in the French Quarter. Its old age has made it attractive to fireflies like me. The Roman Catholics have stood here since 1718 making this place, where I have found myself standing, the oldest operating Cathedral in the country. Virtuous at all sides, all angles all lenses. Intrinsic beauty and lore building higher with every death of a memory I think this might be it, as I meander inside Its belly. Then a black Plexiglas sign, with bold white letters, stops me. Staining St. Louis Cathedral's main hall with its utilitarian and soulless modernism, it stands before me. Guarding the first step towards the pulpit it reads: PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE SANCTUARY So close. [This message has been edited by Joe Houck (06-06-2010 02:45 AM).] |

Now isn't that Ironic... with a capital I. I'm not a very religious person, but can definitly feel the loss and frustration in this one. Just remember, the key and door are both within. Peace. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

Hello~ I thought this was fabulous.. great metaphorical device (the sign) and it reads as a genuine experience. The only thing I`d say is that it might be a tad wordy.. condense, and it will have even greater power (IMHO) but please don`t take that as an insult, because I truly loved it! (Just my 2 cents, heh) . Great read~ Amaryllis |

I have yet to go to New Orleans so appreciated tagging along on your visit. How silly is that? I would have gone in anyway. That's me though. |

This is very inspiring, insofar it makes us appreciate who we actually are ... humans who try to represent divine beauty through art, but never fully succeed, because we live in this world of duality and perfection is difficult to achieve, when we create outside of our soul's domain. thank you all for your comments. I'm glad it reads as a genuine experience...it was. Have the picture of the sign on my phone. =) - Bobby, couldn't agree more. |
