He said, "A poet is someone who would rather shoot you in the back." I said, "Let's not be cruel. Poets are storytellers." He said "It's something with you, having to defend that 'expression' thing." I said, "Words are, no matter how catty, words. Nothing else." He said, "That's a good one. Can you read a person merely by their words?" I said, "Who's asking? And what is that somebody asking?" He said, "Personal interest there? Business? Nothing personal." I said, "Researching sources is not the same as attack." |

I really admire your orginality in choice of subject and structure. I don't know that I've ever read an "ars poetica" poem written in dialogue before. Putting two uncommon elements together, you've written a very successful poem. Bravo! |
