painted lady laughing longing for a ticket to take a roller coaster ride with memories of a long lost lover once aboard the riverboat queen who was swept out to sea she cries out inaudible screams hearing only words of drunken sailor's dreams while twilight brings her promise of a new day all she feels is loneliness and pain There must be a poem in here somewhere. |

I used to hang out at a place called the Sampan Lounge in New Orleans on Exchange Alley which catered to merchant marines and their lovers, etc. This poem puts me back there as I tried my best to console the sad women left behind as their men shipped out to sea. ~ Life is sexually transmitted ~ |

this is exquisite, trying to forget something, changing ideas with all solutions to abandon sadness...I loved it and the atmosphere of it... yann |

JerryPat-That is amazing to hear that you actually experienced this...i also had New Orleans on my mind when I wrote this one...so that is uncanny... Lori-Thank you for your comments, Lori and for being here. Yann-Thank you so much for your wonderful remarks. I appreciate them so much. There must be a poem in here somewhere. |
