i am beside myself
with anticipation
of your long look
and flirtateous smile
when neither come
i turn my head away
to hide the disappointment
showing on my face

then comes the long-awaited
moment you approach me
saying the words i have
feared you would never say
but on this occasion
you say them following
a most anticipated wink
that followed a smile
that made my heart go wild
i awoke from my dream before
i could say i loved you as well

Aw, drat! Don't you just hate it when that happens. Maybe the dream will pick up where it left off, Faith.
