Unforgettable grin wonderful raspy voice Janis looks down from her feathered throne in the cosmic sky belting out the blues reaching the depth of our pain. Janis Joplin- a legend in her own time still very much alive doing her thing as Cosmic Blues Queen There must be a poem in here somewhere. |

Yes, she is still very much alive as her legend and music live on. Janis Joplin & Grace Slick opened the doors for many many female artists to expand their horizons into free and open forms. Her regular dealer was out of town that day or she never would have taken the overdose. The guy filling in didn't know the limits and she assumed he did. Found her dead in bed. She was just starting to realize super star success especially with 'Me & Bobby McGee' being a hit. In fact she had just recieved a call that day from John Lennon complimenting her on the sucess of the song. Sad but goes with the illegal drug scene sometimes. The old cliche, 'play with fire die by fire.' Eric in a relationship the me becomes we. |

I was at a concert in a cow pasture just outside San Francisco when she was just starting out with Big Brother and the Holding Company. I'd never heard of her, but I sure liked her and soon everybody knew Janis. She could flat out wail.
