You know? I'm a people watcher- It's what I like to do.. And far more entertaining- Than going to the zoo. Grocery stores are not too bad- Or going to the Mall- But an evening spent in Wal-Mart Is the greatest thrill of all. I like to watch the grown-ups Behave as little kids- My Mama would have torn me up Behaving as they did. You ought to see a full-grown man Whining to his wife- About his need for that there "reel" Or this here "skinnin'" knife. Or watch those dizzy women Try to sell themselves On needing that new ironing board That set of plastic shelves. And children, Oh, my heaven's- Their completely out of hand Behave themselves like demons And yell to beat the band. And Moms and Dads who beg and plead And shout, and fume, and scold And fail to carry out their threats Thus making children bold. I see adult delinquents- We need to break the mold; I've found that very few grow up- They mostly just grow old. |

So true John. So many adults are like that – and their children learn to be the same. My new puppy has chewed through my power cable. I hope I can get one today, but may not be able to get one until Wednesday, if at all as my laptop was bought in 2007. I don't have much battery power left and I need to try to save some battery power left to send the messages to Linda (Earth Angel) from my thread in Announcements every day, if at all possible. Just explaining why I possibly won’t be able to respond to any poems for a while after a couple today. Owl |

I'm a people watcher too, John and there is so much truth in this humorous little offering. Ida |

from the title (which drew me in) I wasn't sure where you were going with this...and, it was so good...echoing back your wise words...not just in agreement, but also in enjoyment |

Ain't it the truth, John!! Adults forget so easily. I remember, as a kid, I told my self to remember certain things. When the baseball game the next day seemed to be the most important thing in my life, or the crush on my third-grade classmate seemed overwhelming, I told myself to remember, as an adult, how important these things felt to a young boy. Sometimes I have remembered and sometimes not. I;ve grown up and I've grown old. Of that there is no doubt But he one thing that I hate the most Is how I have grown OUT! |
