I often sit and talk to me- I know that's very strange. And some might say demented At least a bit deranged. You know? I've found it helps me think And set my thoughts aright Sometimes the conversations last... Quite late into the night. I often think of choices made Discuss the pros and cons And wonder 'bout the wisdom And should I carry on. Or should I take a different tack And trash my foolish schemes Of being known for what I write? Tis but a childish dream. I think about the paths I chose- The pain I've left behind... And wish to make amends to those To whom I've been unkind. Alas, the miles and years between Today, and all those days Are far too great to bridge by hope And this my soul dismays. And so I sit, and so I talk- A fool, perhaps tis so... But I can understand myself There's comfort there I know. |

I think we all talk to ourselves, John – well those who don’t have anyone around to talk to, anyway. It is simply thinking aloud – and the sound of a human voice makes one feel less alone, and makes one’s thoughts more real and easier to process – if that is demented or a bit deranged, then I am too. Read your own poem about dreams being enough (If Only Once . . . ), and you won’t think that your dream is childish. It is good to be introspective and regret being unkind, and it is never too late to mend – even though the people you hurt may not forgive you, they will definitely feel better knowing you are genuinely sorry, and so will you. Being genuinely sorry helps you to forgive yourself – and forgiving yourself helps others to do so too. Those whom you think you cannot reach because they have passed on, will instinctively know and understand your thoughts. Know also that we all have hurt others; but it is only the great and worthy few who acknowledge this. There are also very few who know and understand themselves and what boon that is for those who do. If we can’t understand ourselves, we can never begin to understand others. It is good to get out all the hurts and regrets that are poisoning us. Owl |

Just like you, OwlSA I talk to myself in my mind and aloud. But everyone does..though most don't realize they are, but they are. Nice poem I like everyline to it. |
