Hopeless

They say Hope is the mother of
Disappointment – I’ve proved it’s true.
For out of everyone I love,
The only one I can't reach is you.

If given time to search for soul,
One might find truth, or gain insight.
But given life in this black hole,
One might lose self to endless night.

My world grows darker everyday,
But even night offers no rest
To redeem me this forlorn way,
A hope to which I could attest.

I sit and stare at nothing there,
To pass time as Time passes me;
But know I can’t force you to care.
No, ‘know I have to let this be.

Though numbness tends to erase thought,
Cold chills won’t hamper my bare feet.
Content to lay awake, I rot
Away my conscience in defeat.

No longer of a will to dream,
I close my eyes – embrace the black
Image for all that it may seem
To remind me ‘all I now Lack…

And tease with what I can’t have back!
The remedy of all hope, Despair,
Now slithers in to writhe and wrack
My mind with more than it can bear…

Until the sun reveals its lie,
A tomorrow faced with a smile;
From tortured souls who pass life by
With not a hope to reconcile…

Michael Anderson

I strike! It quivers in that heart
Which drives me to this end;
I draw and kiss the bloody dart,
My last-my only friend!

Oh, you poet you!  Philosopher too.
Love this write, to the max!

I think there is always hope.
But the needers of hope
must seek, and ask...

(needers=new word)

You make poetry look so easy.

There does not have to be hopelessness and defeat; although sometimes its hard to see things any other way (regardless of reason).  There is always hope; if there wasn't, then there would be nothing to write of.

Michael,

I believe your poetry is important.  Too many are not able to express how that black darkness impacts their lives.  Write on and thank you for letting us in.

JL, I hear you.  Ask, seek, knock, and all these things will be opened unto you.  Indeed, there is always hope.  Thank you for your kind words and positive outlook, brother.

Nicole, hope does stir the pen, even in the absence of all hope... I see your point here.

Alison, you are always welcome here... Thank you.

Michael

Roll the screen a bit, my friend... and remind yourself of all you give and how many love and admire you. Quantity doesn't make up for quality and many can't replace the one... but anyone out of reach is the true loser. However many times hopelessness has pressed you down, you rise to stand again, creating beauty out of the blackness, shining through the darkness, epitomizing a hope that won't stay crushed, regardless of circumstances. You inspire hope... may it stop forsaking you. Painful but tremendous poem!
