we spoke often of sunday afternoon suns
savoring how they fit between us there
like our tattoos had special glue
and getting stuck in the same dream
was more intended than accidental

you were taller than small town windows
when you put the woman of you on
and let high heels write poetry songs
then you grinned at my finger prints
when I left them strumming your music

I hid your glasses in the coffee can
and made you look for them in my pockets
you said you knew they were never there
nor were there pockets in my nudity
but you would take the time pretending

and I would kiss to know your flavors
when your eyes closed not too tightly
for you to watch for my intentions
so you could be there waiting before
they arrived outside your comfort zone

just to give me more explicit directions

This speaks of a much deeper perspective than what it says on the skin-side of things. I like that...

Margherita quoted the beginnings of my favorite stanza; although the whole of it has a sweetness to it that is really lovely.
