What conventional wisdom accepts as the truth in its presence is shadowed by doubt Long held notions of faith passed on down through the years shy from that which it bandies about Rulers seek to deny it a voice lest its will tests the waters of public dissent While its time lost in thought often is misconstrued as a waste which it does not lament Children learn of its grand and imaginitive bent while exploring its much storied ways It records all the mind of a man can concieve down in sequence of swift passing days It is said that its strength exceeds that of the sword for indeed this remarkable tool can do all this and more if you listen as I to the pen in the hand of a fool [This message has been edited by Dr.Moose1 (12-08-2011 06:16 PM).] |

“True, This! — Beneath the rule of men entirely great, The pen is mightier than the sword. Behold The arch-enchanters wand! — itself a nothing! — But taking sorcery from the master-hand To paralyse the Cæsars, and to strike The loud earth breathless! — Take away the sword — States can be saved without it! ~Edward Bulwer-Lytton He was the original fool – little did he understand the wiles of mankind, and a lack of human historical prowess. However, better a pen in the hand of a fool than that fool having a sword unsheathed. No? "Nothing new under the sun, it's all vanity" ~King Solomon. Enjoyed your write, it is a gem. I just had to rant, again... You inspire. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. Maranatha! JL, Thanks, and I enjoy not only your rants, but also your quotes. I also agree about the sword, I'll take a good pen fight any day of the week, lol. Doc Ida, Thank you, never know where one's thoughts might lead. Doc |

Very fine write: I immediately thought of this quote from a favourite movie: " . . . while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth . . . " - V for Vendetta. |

Noctunal Pulse, Thanks, words can indeed be very powerful tools worthy of a little extra care when juggling them about, lol. Doc Angel, Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I'm glad you liked. Doc |
