What to do now, when everything is gone? Your presence haunts me whether day or night. Will I be to the bottle of wine drawn, To stay the midnight's pain of sorrow's bite? Within the world there are trinkets to use, Sometimes we fondle and mutilate them: To the great chagrin of our lovers true, A rose of beauty reduced to a stem. Most of my life I have lived all alone, On my own from personal, open war. I pen these farewell words to you and moan, The pain in my heart is a closing door. How many more lonely hearts sit and wait, For news of their lovers; the hurt is great. ©November 23, 2011 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ He did not wear his scarlet coat, For blood and wine are red, And blood and wine were on his hands When they found him with the dead,--Wild |

Oh Jerry, What a heartfelt write! You have out done yourself again my friend. The agony of separation and the bliss of together...you nailed it. Lori |
