.

Sunday
At Casey’s Corner
One doesn’t ponder
The passing of the years

They go as they will
Hour by hour as others
Have all gone before
There’s nothing to do
That can change that law

The men
Each in some way a veteran
Sit at the bar enjoying their beer
There is an element of retirement
That tones the air

So who is this woman
Who silently comes into our den
Wearing out of season
A flower in her hair

That brings a scent
Of beauty love
And other things
As once long then
Were held so dear

Among Lions Tigers
And Chicago Bears

This should be a painting hanging in Casey’s Corner.  I can visualize this scene.

Excellent write.

Ah, John....

in Chitown,
I've been in that bar.

This is good,
and I echo JL's thoughts...

you could paint this
and it would sell!
