tonight, after the lima beans and cornbread
give me a chance to
leave you breathless; reaching for the stars
only sound in the room
the rapid beating of your heart
'twill be a night to live forever
the greatest lovers of history
will hang their heads in abject shame
I'm not talking about this thing called love
oh no, no, no, I'm talking about sensual insanity
I'm not looking for stimulation
I mean to have euphoria in the form
of two covered-with-sweat-bodies locked in utter madness
and, after this night
you won't remember our sweat-filled hysterics
no
every time our eyes meet
each time you think of me
if you hear my name mentioned
you will experience this night
as though it were happening to you again
you will need to find somewhere to sit
before your knees give way to primitive pleasure

Well Michael, I don't know what to tell you. But you are correct, picturing me like this is a stretch. I'm old and what I just described in my poem would probably kill me outright. Be that as it may, I wrote it. It is a poem. Do ALL POEMS HAVE TO BE FACTUALLY REAL, MICHAEL?
