TAPS

Engaged for the service,
this somber lone bugle sings.

Singer of the lost…
the many…
or the one…

He alone designated
portraying their appearance

with love and respect
as he cries his song of blues…

Unchanging…
the words unspoken,
the lonely tune the same.

Not to miss a note,
not at all to be refrained.

He possesses the song of death,
in that he sings well trained.

To give to all who die their last word,
for their memory sustained.

Yes, JL...like this poem,
and scenes like the missing man formation...

this is when the throat closes,
and the eyes well...

Thank you.

I cannot listen to Taps without tears welling in my eyes.  It's a beautiful thing to witness, with the flag presentation and twenty-one gun salute at a veteran's funeral.  Something I will personally never forget.

Thanks for this.
