I met The Man I met my first grandson-by-act today…and I like him! Yeah, they know it’s a little backward, the act before a commitment, but I Like him! He looked me in the eye, told me how things are going to be, and I took a chance too… and told him how things Would be…if… but I like him, because I’m pretty sure he believes there’s not going to be an “if”. And…then there’s the fact that he chose to stay put, not run, not hide, and he’s eight years older besides, and he’s looking you in the eyes straight, and he’s more than common beyond the gate good. So is she. “I think this was meant to happen, Grandma,” and I’m taking it as a sign, to believe, to know there are angels in the snow, and it will be good… yes, this I trow. And I met the man. He is handsome in common goodness, he is her delight and she is fearful of someone so wonderful, she can only believe she is in like, because love has run from her, love is sacred, and she wants it so bad, but she never wants to feel pain again. But the good is, he is here; they share commonalities, and I gave him my quiet riot act of “you hurt her, be fearful of me.” But their commonalities will wind and bind and find them instantly…she has already found the key words to awake him; he has already sought the key words that will betake her, this is not an instant love, though they don’t want that word used quite yet; but this will be their love, when they glean it through a child’s eyes, and they will know, yes, they will know. I met The Man. ~*~ © KRJ 10-9-11 Yep...this means I'm going to be a great-grandmother... and that kicks fluff! I came here because I haven't read your work in a while. What a story... the ending was perfect, a tie-in to everything. I'm looking forward to reading some more. |

What a different and inspiring poem, Sunshine. It is rich in understanding, with wariness creeping in enough to give the impression, that like life, you believe, but confirm. I think you have just confirmed all you can about The Man. |

Your footnote brings smiles ... it's a blessing to be so young in such a position, I would say! Your poem renders so well the mixed feelings in such circumstances. We so want to see them happy! May life be good! Enjoyed your wisdom and your beauty here. M |

I read this last night and it touched me on so many levels... I wish the man, the granddaughter, their little one and the Grandma with the quiet riot act all the best! *S* |

Whether you found this sappy, or open and welcoming, I thank you all for reading. I don't think any grand/parent can truly let go of their grand/kids. Yet we know we have to, just as our forebears let us go out to spread our joy and our wings, to find our own nests, and our own ways in dealing with what we know of as life. I want to believe this first grandson by love is a ![]() ![]() And if it matters...I passed this poem by my granddaughter prior to sharing it with all of you. And because she said it was okay, tells me a whole lot! ![]() Thank you all! |

I think he will be a keeper Karilea and not because of guilt but because of love he will see in you what she will become and he will love her now forever |

fine 'write' ! There is the grand word: "limmerance" ... which means... not yet 'love' ... but the act of first beginning to fall in love! ... (perhaps the most wonderful time of all?!) |
