I think I'm getting maudlin I also don't think I like that I'm doing so my goodness| me! Maudlin I don't do maudlin No I'm the kinda guy who sez like that movie star You tells 'em I'm coming And hell's a-coming with me does that sound to you like a maudlin kinda guy I guess not still I have to confess I secretly (not so secret now) like to read some of the honey-dipped soppy, rose-scented love poems about lost love and lover forevermore this has come late in life my maudlin phase was wondering why one day discovered a truism I'll share with ya grew up with not much love in the house a lot of arguing and things breaking| against the wall turned me against this thing called love spent most of my life sneering at the word psst! another truism had a lot of women batting their lashes at me only one meant anything you know her name I've said it enough here even so couldn't hold her because I couldn't hold onto myself but she's the one true love she is gone I'm truly alone it is the memory of her that has me in my later years given in to being (((((gasp))))) maudlin ©October 3, 2011 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ Tell me whom you love, and I will tell you who you are.--Houssaye ~*~ |

You say that like it is a bad thing. I think your sentimental side is quite becoming. Lori |

If being maudlin means you have a heart filled with human emotion such as love then being maudlin ain't so bad. In fact it is a more perfect way to be. Excellent write Jerry. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

No, I didn't mean to come of saying maudlin was a bad thing, it is just that I have never been such a "devoted" one in my life. Thank you Lori. JL, I totally agree. ~*~ Tell me whom you love, and I will tell you who you are.--Houssaye ~*~ |

I've been told my poetry is boring and dark, not in those exact words, Michael, so I guess I've caved in and went with the flow. ~*~ Tell me whom you love, and I will tell you who you are.--Houssaye ~*~ |

"maudlin" that is a new word for me, thank you for enriching my vocabulary ... I think to become "softer" goes right along with walking down memory lane. Like those photos of which the contours become less nitid and yet they gain in beauty and become like a painting of the impressionism period. I much enjoyed your poem, Jerry. It reflects your core and the transparency of it. M |

I so appreciate your comments, Margherita, and the comparison of the photographs that grow old with time and age was a good one. Thank you. ~*~ Tell me whom you love, and I will tell you who you are.--Houssaye ~*~ |
