What I like on this earth,
it is not the color of the sea,
it could have been orange or mauve,
boats would have floated
for a long time
between ports and canals,

What I like especially
it is the seizing contrast
between the wild people
and the technological people,
some are surrounded with electronics
miniature telephones
or huge television sets, they know
everything of the binary language,
the automobiles
and the social networks,

But they remain people
and cannot hide their weaknesses,
those of their hearts, of their spirits
and it is enough for a half naked Indian
of half a second to know more
about them than themselves will never know,

One massai dressed in red knows more
about the soul of an urban Internet user
that this Internet user will ever know
during his life ,
the contrasts do not hide the nudities.

Profound and powerful message here.  For all we think we know, in truth, we know squat.  Makes me wonder if it's too late to learn something from those half naked Indians... or if we'd ever even allow ourselves the time to try.

Oh ya!
They walk down the street with an i-pod wired to their ears or with head down into their i-phone and wouldn't care or even know if you said hello in passing.
Sucked into the whirlpool to drown in the electrons . . .

Yann, I absolutely love your philosophical mind meanderings, and this is one of my favourites of yours - perhaps my very favourite of all the ones of yours I have read.  Few people look into the soul of humanity as you do - and you do it magnificently.

A lot of sad truth here, yann. Much thought on the way things are.

This rings profoundly true to my ear and I bask in the light of your awareness, dear Yann.

Spiritual richness is the goal of our wandering this Earth and though the technical devices are also a product of human ingeniousness, too often we fail to recognize the true potential of our minds, as we cling to material things.

Brilliant work.

yann, I take it that you don't know yourself by this argument, because you are here with the rest of us. I have news for whoever, I know myself pretty darn well. I have had a lot of different kinds of people try to tell me "who I really am," over the years, but I know exactly who I am, thank you very much

Greetings Yann the Mann!

You are a ponderer and wonderful observer of life and the world around you. Those are two  of the reasons why you are such a fine poet!
