i woke to find you,
a soft weight of repose
on my breast, in the endless
there;
your breath was the dawn
a slow, climbing warmth
curled in my belly.
such a gentle, tender thing
a small sand-glass;
a concavity that curved your horizon
to my touch.
i could live in slivered eyes
in the sleep-drug
where thrushes sing in hymns
and i taste your name on my tongue,
sweet and thick.
reality is suspended
and transitory, fragmented
leaving the days for paradigms
and a blind recompense for this existing,
a plea perhaps, to give life to this devotion.

Evocative and the sand-glass an apt   metaphor. Enjoyed also the sensuality.

Thanks for sharing,

The last line was the catalyst that lifted and cemented this poem into the superior category. Outstanding work.

I've started looking for your poems... and savoring the finds. *S*

This one starts out so soft and delicate... then just builds and builds till it slams home with a jolt.

and a blind recompense for this existing

loved that!
