LIMITATIONS
2 October 2011

I am comfortable
within the limitations
of the grace
and the gifts
that God has given me.

I can’t fly a Boeing
but I can fly a dream.

I can’t build a skyscraper
but I can build a database.

I can’t flip a pancake
but I can flip some dreams
into reality

and some trials
into challenges

and some challenges
into success.

I celebrate
the gifts God has given you
and you
and you

and I celebrate
how God has spread
his gifts all over the world
with generous love and wisdom
in such a way
that
if we all accept them
within the grace and the limitations
that God has given us,
and if we all use them
for the betterment of all,
we, too, will sing
Louis Armstrong’s diamonds,
“I think to myself,
‘what a wonderful world’ ”.

Yes, I am comfortable
within the limitations
of the grace
and the gifts
that God has given me . . .

and, not having reached
their boundaries yet,
how can I possibly
not
celebrate
those precious
limitations.

Owl: That's the key to a happy life..accepting all that we are and are not--and spreading what we are so that others might be touched.

Your poems touch...

beautifully written, Diana...and very true for me when I say I am now content in my life, though always learning and trying to improve myself...but I am who I am and there are certain limitations in life...and one tries their best to be their best.

Bravo!  Excellently and beautifully said.  I just LOVE this!!!  It's going right into my library.  This rings so true to me that I can't help but to be encouraged by it!

Thank you, Nicole.  I am honoured.

Thank you, Al.  It’s not just what we are – it is also about what we will and won’t do – our morals - a line beyond which we will not go, no matter how much we are badgered to do so.

Thank you, Maureen.  I am glad you are equally content with who you are.

Thank you, Aenea for understanding this so well.  Your replies are as inspiring as your poems.  I am encouraged by the fact that you are encouraged by my poem.
