The Layers of My Skin

I dream of you in blue
and have conversations
in run on sentences
without ever taking a breath
I stir the air in whispers
and wonder if you hear me
for I hear you clearly
where you tell me
I remind you of a shower
wondering where the clouds are now
I am still, laughing to myself
knowing you too are rain
liquid quenching droplets
that I walk in during darkness
softly tickling of the fine drops
drenched washing me
soaked far beneath
the layers of my skin
