These evenings sway gradual, warm as
the hollows within new-baked bread,
and as moist. We laugh like children.

You still hum that old Moe Bandy
to get me to roll my eyes.
Sometimes it's Prine.

When the storms shoulder in from the west,
salting the kitchen window
and swirling the firs like calypso,
then we'll sleep

take to our den like the badger, curling
about the other in musky slumber

but for now, we have these hours.

I brew a pot of colombian, I know
you like it strong.

Both, the pleasure to see you here and the pleasure of reading such a wonderful poem by you, have sent deep emotions through and into my heart.

Your refined and exquisite poetry is a precious gift for the Pipsters.

Love,
Margherita

This is one of those "wish I had written that" poems to me. It's good to read your words again.  Thank you for this.

Quite innovative and well-written with stong emotional pull.

Enjoyed--even without my morning coffee!

I enjoyed your imagery immensely; this sounds like a lovely evening, including the storms.

Mo Bandy? / Prine? / You brought back some memories with those two names.

You described a perfectly wonder, wonderful evening, strong coffee and all.

I love it when you feel as if you are in the midst of someone's story as they write a few concise lines.  Beautifully done!

I like the feel of this one.

But, I wonder if badgers aren't a bit too feisty for that?  It is a neat thought, if they would.

Thanks, Krawdad.. actually I chose 'badger' because 'bear' was too common and predictable...as to feisty? Knowing us, that makes the simile all the more apt!

I dare say , this poem is as satisfying as the coffee you mention.  Well done.
