Trenchcoat Blue & The Tender Traps Close the book on tender traps paint a Harlem tattoo on my window sill walk Spanish down the hall to find Jimmy Blue said he has a Cadillac heroin needle bloodshot eye said she was gonna pick him up on the corner of rhythm & blues throw away the rose and keep the thorns cut open a starlit masquerade and pour myself a strong drink New Orleans girl with teeth of dull gold pulls out a knife and sings a Sinatra tune out of key, out of gas, out of mind and break a diamond, let me down, slice a tin shack heart perfectly in two and the rain dogs lose scent of the girls from the broken down midtown a carousel hat trick, zodiac dice of Nantucket pearl gypsy biker with a hand full of black sawdust throw me into a new scene, fulla whispers and Singapore slings pounding in my head Van Morrison records and a moon rock stuck in my eye winking away daylight like a strobe light slo-motion catwalk parade and I jump off cliffs of conclusions, smoke riffs of Blind Lemon Jefferson and break dance to the beat of a New York subway train my jacket fulla bad ideas and a broken compass slouching toward Bethlehem with a ticket to see the show Ingrid Bergman and the shadow of a girl I once hated more than sin she stabbed the daylights out of my whiskered face and left me with only dreams that smell of gasoline lit by the factory light of a new dawn flare where the hell am I well, where the hell I am fish for a big black '42 Ford and sail across a sea of unfathomable bliss one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, the weather is a melted candle and your love is like Christmas tinsel wrapping me in your sad luck dame blues one more time, baby, one more dime and I'll call you every name in the book and I'll fall like a fish on the hook into purple dreams of sea lions dancing on the dashboard lit by Eiffel Tower flames all for you, black-eyed baby blue, all for you "Teach a man to reason, and he'll think for a lifetime." -Phil Plait |

Superbly, but superbly written, Zach. I could feel the world of drugs and music and street life spiralling out of control, faster and faster. Owl |
