Once upon a harvest moon,
...shadows of the night,
Dance across a Kansas plain,
...in glow of Luna's light.
Midnight breezes cool land's scape,
...summer on the wane,
As silos silhouette the sky,
...filled full of golden grain.
Parents sleep while children dream,
...of play-filled days now spent,
While high above the muses sing,
...beyond night's firmament.
I walk across a blue-stemmed prairie,
...left behind a world defiled,
Beneath full moon of harvest time,
...amongst the creatures wild.
I hear the song of eventide,
...heralding day's done,
And for a fleeting second,
...the night and I are one.

This is a wonderful vision.  I've never walked across a blue-stemmed prairie...but you made it sound so peaceful and desirable that I guess I gotta put it on my list.

Very well done.

I love this, Tim.

JL quoted one of my favourite parts.

Giggles at Morning Star's list - to which she referred indirectly in a poem of hers.

I like your rhyming scheme very much and the cadence kept me tapping my foot. Quite a poem centered around the so-called "fly-over" country. Excellent!

Reading this, I felt my breathing slow... it's that peaceful. Beautiful work!
