.

I sit alone
Smoking a pipe
On my balcony

It is night
The stars are out
Crickets are chirping
In the summer weeds
Across the road

Someone is taking
An evening stroll
I can see him followed
By his shadow
Beneath a silver moon

Fireflies briefly glow
And then disappear
Sparrows slumber
Under wooden eaves

Your absence
Makes you beautiful

I really love being alive

This is living every moment with all one’s senses.  Recognition of such beauty, nostalgia, contentment and exquisite tranquillity is the reward of those who seek these gifts, notice, appreciate, savour and share them.  What a beautiful way to end a day!  I read it numerous times as I didn't want to leave the poem and its magic.
