Marrying Leah "Now Jacob loved Rachel, so he said, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.” . . . Then Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife, for my time is completed” . . . Now in the evening he took his daughter Leah, and brought her to him; and Jacob went in to her. And in the morning, behold, it was Leah!" - Genesis 29:18-24 I called you Rachel all night Under moon and shadow As you filled the fleshless places Between our desert limbs Seven years could have fit into that night Your wedding garments now loose around you The morning unveils your face Lined with shame and your years Lying beside you silent I think of your sister Smooth and succulent Sweet pomegranate But your eyes are lovely And your hips ready for sons Maybe every man serves for Rachel Awakening next to Leah instead * |

Sorry, didn't mean to post twice. Accidentally double-clicked, and I can't delete one. |
