.

Together we smile
At small gray squirrels

Acorns are falling
From the trees

We watch
Some of them land
In the water by the bank
No doubt the fish don’t take
Kindly to such an incoming
Barrage

It been awhile
Things have changed

The paths are paved
There are amenities
That were not here
When we were young

You know that time
When all you had to do
Was call my name

And whole world focusing
Rushed to help me
Be at your side

Absolutely lovely, John.  A pity about the paved pathways and the amenities, but good that you remember before they were there and paint such a beautiful picture for us to enjoy it too.

Interesting two-part poem you have posted. The final two stanzas are like an awakening from a dream.
