THE POWER OF WARMTH 28 May 2011 A feather too weighs heavy on the boundaries of my heart and my smile flickers plastic and dutiful and my eyes turn inward glassy and mostly blind but . . . the sunshine love of my cat and my dog and my three Guardian Angels and the connecting hugs of my friends and the kindness of my family lift my eyes and heart and shoulders to the sun and I see green tree arms against the azure African sky wide with cloud-paintings and trilling with avian souls and my smile bio-regrades on my lips and spreads like melted butter to my eyes and my heart and my toes and my eyes turn outward to a vibrant world and wistful with the treasures of the past and responsive to the gifts of the present I look to the heart-beat future where I am needed again and the feather flies light lighter high higher fluttering farewell with the sun on its edges. "and I see green tree arms against the azure African sky wide with cloud-paintings and trilling with avian souls" Word arrangements such as these, are why I read, and love poetry. The entire poem excellent.. Very fine work, Diana, yes indeed. Come read to me some poem, |

Thank you, Ford, for your very kind words. I am glad you saw that panorama that hugged my soul. I particularly needed your signature quote from Longfellow’s “The Day Is Done” at this moment. Smiles. |

No matter how bad my day has gone, I am sure to find solace in poetry, such as kind that you write. It fills my night with music, and also mornings..reduces the cares of the day, and helps deter anxiety...exatly like H.W.L. said it does. "And the night shall be filled with music, And the cares, that infest the day, Shall fold their tents, like the Arabs, And as silently steal away." Thank you for saying your poems to me.. ford Come read to me some poem, |

Yes, Ford, poetry is such a comforting place. I often wonder how people without poetry and animals cope. Thank you for your kind words about my poetry and for quoting the last stanza of HWL's "The Day Is Done," one of my favourite stanzas of one of my favourite poems. Owl |
