Letting go is harder than it seems Despair a crushing burden to be borne A wound reopened each night in my dreams Leaving me each morning more forlorn Will this struggle haunt me all my life? So many times I thought that I'd moved on Then Sorrow twists its ever-present knife The outcome of this struggle is forgone Be that as it may,I'll persevere Praying someday I can let you go And break the chains that bind me to this fear But is that what you'd want? I'll never know... October 30, 2009 AMdG "My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night; but ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--it gives a lovely light!" -Edna St. Vincent Millay |
