I watched my pain drown away
Watched the puddle grow in vain
Yes, we all believed we were angles
Believed we could fly away

The years took hold and the laws became thin
We stepped on toes and took a blind eye
White snow in the summer is how it'll begin
If we laid down now, we'd never outlive the lie

I took a step towards you
I took my time and breathed
I couldn't feel my skin crawl
But I felt my soul burn

The world feels so small
When our lips meet to dance
I laugh at my problems
I face them with a bright red shield of love

Like a florist without a knife
I tangle my tales
Like a rose with no thorns
I struggle to brighten my life

"Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it."

"Hold faithfulness and sincerity as first principles."

-Confucius

... the shield of love is really the best choice we can make ...

This is very lovely.
