MARY’S DREAM One evening up there in those heavens of blue, Mary dreamed a dream when Christmas was due. She said softly to her husband, “oh Joseph my dear, Last night I had a dream that was so visually clear.” “It was a birthday celebration for our only son, People’s faces were lit as though a prize they had won. For weeks they’d been preparing for this wonderful day And had invited family and friends from places far away.” “Much shopping had been done for presents quite rare, Some wonderful goodies that all there might share. It was peculiar tho’ Joseph, tho’ they were all having fun, Those presents were not intended for our beloved Son.” “Beautiful presents in fancy paper and ribbons were placed Beneath a bright Christmas tree with a great show of haste. Sparkling tinsel and lights adorned that green Xmas tree With a glowing figure on the apex like an angel might be.” “Every one was so happy as the presents were exchanged But none were for Jesus which to me seemed quite strange. That they were thinking of Jesus, I think the chances were slim, For I think many that were present did not even know him.” “To celebrate someone’s birthday, it certainly seems odd When no one even mentioned his name or spoke about God. I had the strangest feeling Joseph that if Jesus went there That somehow he’d be intruding, which hardly seems fair.” “While all the folks gathered seemed so hail and so hearty, It was sad Jesus wasn’t welcome at his own birthday party. I know it was only a dream Joseph but how would we feel That if somehow or other it turned out to be real.” Lindsay P Wilson |

A great write and message. I remember when I was little and my gramma had the big dinner for all the relatives, she always made a birthday cake for Jesus, and we could not eat until we sang Happy Birthday, and we wanted to eat, so we sang! ; This poem brought back some very long buried memories I had as a child so thank you for stirring the old grey matter for me. Happy Holidays to you and yours. |

Yes, sadly these poetic verses reflect a reality that is widely diffused. I am listening to Christmas songs right now in the attempt to enter the true atmosphere of this very special birthday! Thank you for the thought provoking piece. Merry Christmas and happy birthday party! Love, Margherita |
