Stuck in first gear Somehow numb, I inch forward Reminiscence in memories past These days, my only solace Forcibly woken to a reality I fear Hold on. Catch my breath. I gasp. How did I get here? Short of breath, Anxiety’s lurking He'll find me soon enough Overdue karma, unwillingly welcomed What I’ve earned can no longer be feared Consequence on my heels, He’s winning my race Eventually forced to face my own demons And inevitably, my loss, my disgrace Take a seat, enjoy the ride Future of misery, party of mine. |
