I guess I just keep coming back to how you hurt my feelings Maybe it shouldn’t matter And maybe I should rise above The words that you wrote But I can’t Right now when it is dark And I want to write there’s a block And an echo of you clawing At a private part of me That I shared with you Until I bled And I want to rise above the anger And I want to not give you power But right now, it still hurts That you betrayed my trust In a way that few can And I hurt. - Alison |

Powerful sharazz, alaboo. I think I've been there, and that sucks big time. A lot. I'm glad you posted this. I liked it lots. It's neat to read the side of you that isn't about nature. I love my dog, and my truck. It's that simple, really. |

Thank you, Paul friend. Sometimes the way to cut out the pain is to write it away. I saw you here and figured you'd have a hug and you did. A |

This is all to real. At the risk of sounding corney - this one speaks to me. In fact I think it was me... Well said. Aenea If I don't say it...who will? |

You know Alison you write the hurt with such real emotion, there is no glossing it over, no flutter or frills... it is impossible not to feel the pain and sorrow. For me regrets are the worst of it, and I think when our hearts break regrets do indeed come into play. You are a gifted poet and your words touch deeply. |

Aenea, Thank you. Maybe it is about many of us - hurt is a universal emotion. Thank you for reading and letting me know that this poem touched you. Alison - BluesSerenade, Thank you - I guess I can't frill some things. I am not much of a frilly person anyway, but I do know what you mean. Thank you again, Alison - Helen, Yes, it's about me. This is a sister thing and it hurts like hell. Thank you for reading and caring. Alison |

My dear Alison, I really feel for you my dear and I wish I could say something to ease the pain, but hurt does fade with time so hang in there for I'm sure all your friends will be pulling for you. Good luck, God bless and take care. love. Lindsay |

Lindsay, Thank you for your caring and kindness. Yes, it fades - it just takes time. I am willing to give it time and will write the hurt away. Thank you, my friend. Love, Alison - Bill, Thank you for reading. I hope that I never write the same way. I try not to fall into one way of writing poetry and to try not to just write about one subject. I guess I see poetry as a menu of choices - and I write to the style that fits the thoughts in my head. Some might say now I have to learn how to expand my abilities. I dunno. Thank you. Alison - Ida, Thank for the hugs and for just being you. I really appreciate you. xoxoxo Alison |

It is really harder to write when pain is present... and just dealing with it takes so much focus and energy. I'm sorry for the callous wounds. Karen |

Oh how I know those run-on sentences of the heart, mind, soul. Nothing could have been done with commas, exclamation points, or even words bold with red color. Yet, you rant well. Although I am terribly sorry for the hurt you must be or were in. Getting it "out" is what it's all about. You did well. I'm still proud of my girl. |

quote: ((((Alison)))) Oh, yes, some things hurt even if we try to wear our shield of love and forgiveness. You said this so powerfully. And I am sorry for you and for all ... too many ... who sooner or later find themselves in such a situation. But I have also witnessed reuniting, even after years, long after the stormy waters have calmed down. Love and hugs. Margherita |

Karen, Thank you. It is. Alison - yann, Thank you, yann. Yes, there is much good in my life. I am just kind of choking on some ugliness right now. xoxoox Alison - Sunshine, I read this and had to walk away for a bit. You choked me up. Thank you - and you are right. Rants help until they simply are no longer necessary. I think I am about ready to knuckly down and write some "doggerel" again. xoxoxo Alison - Margherita, Thank you - yes, it's sad and it hurts. And, yes, in time, we will talk again. However, the relationship we had will change - they always do after something like this. I loved the one we had. In some ways, I am mourning a death. Love you, Alison |

Dear Alison, What a lovely poem. It expresses the pain all of us go through some time in our lives. Indeed, probably many times. The Dalai Lama starts each speech with, "We are all the same."I believe he is right. Although I am Baptist and he is Buddist, he and I are the same in all the important ways: we all know joy, and we all know pain. Thank you or this lovely write, and this important insite into your life. The phisical life we have is nothing compaired to the spirit that lives inside us. I hope you are feeling that joy again soon! |

I tell myself that if someone is able to hurt me that I am thankful because at this point the easy thing to do would be to feel nothing. <3 "too bad ignorance isn't painful" |

Wow, you capture the feeling well. Who here won't read this and say, "been there, done that" ? I'm sorry for the hurt that inspired this. This is a kinda different writing style for you huh Ali. |

And I want to rise above the anger And I want to not give you power But right now, it still hurts You do what you can when you can... and right now, you deal with the wounds and try not to pick at the scabs. And you write words that reach so many people and they recognize their pain in yours and perhaps feel less alone and even somewhat better. And if such touching words deserve the term, well, I'll be praying the world is blessed with more gifted doggerel writers. *S* |

Understanding this Alison. I had two brothers. One has died. Over the years one or the other has been able to say the thing that stung, but I learned to let it go. I always wanted a sister, but somehow I know a sister can inflict even deeper wounds. Sharing the hurt.love to you, latearrival |

RDB I know you are just a shout away. Thank you for caring as you do. I love you. A-girl - GB, What a beautiful and healing thought you have shared with me. Thank you. xoxoxo A - Susan, Yes, there's a fine line and a vast area where we simply no longer care or feel. When that happens, I mourn it like death because a relationship has ended. Truly ended. Thank you. Alison - Ss, Yes, and thank you. However, sometimes we can't retrieve once we shared. It changes, but the innocence is forever lost. Alison - CG, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I don't think it is all that different from many things I have shared in the past - but, I guess when we grow our writing deepens. A - Ruth, Thank you for the beautiful letters. I owe you one, my friend. Your support meant, and means, the world to me. Love, Alison - Kate, Thank you. As I said in another post, I have missed you. Time will resolve it - I think a lot of time though. A - Dixie, Thank you, darlin'. xoxoxo Alison - ng, Truer words have not been spoken. We have been close all of my life. Who knows if we can retrieve that. A |
