I'm off to war to fight a fight
I have the enemy in my sight
I squeeze the trigger and hear a roar
I'm fighting right now to settle a score
I've trained for this, it took so long
Some people say I'm doing wrong
I regret nothing, I've done what I'm told
It's something I have to do, it never gets old
I hear bells ringing and see a bright light
I continue to fight with all my might
I hear a cry from the enemy
I know his time is soon to be
I am fearless. Sweat drips down my face
I have the power of the Lords sweet grace
I'm protected by his powerful shield
Bombs explode through out this field
Was once a place of meadow green
But only bloodshed is all that's seen
I think of my love who waits for me
Her beautiful face, that's all I want to see
The final shots are all fired
I'm not even close to being tired
The battle has been won
All before the rising sun
We go out to check the bodies
Hopefully all enemy Saudi's
All the dead men starring at my soul
Knowing what I've done takes a great toll
The meadow, once green, has now turned red
From all the warriors whose blood has been shed
Seeing all of this has scared my mind
Would rather be poor and walking blind
I come home forgetting everything
I see my love and angels begin to sing
Standing tall in my uniform
Not realizing I just walked into a storm
They call me a death dealer
They call me a cold blooded killer
They never realized what I did
I protected them and their kids
I protected all of this land
Fighting a war in the desert sand
Very few give me praise
As all of them stop to gaze
I have taken the deepest scars of war
I honestly can't perform anymore
But this is my life in which I live
And yet all I do is want to give
But this is my job, what can I say
I will perform it each and every day
I walk tall with God
He is my staff and my rod
And I will always have my special one
This is why all my battles have been won.

from one vet to another...welcome home.  it is no one's place to judge when a man acts honorably on his word he gave to protect.  for those who would cast words and epithets, they should be directing them to washington.

you would have never had to see a field of green run red were it not for those you swore to obey to the death.  for a soldier to act honorably due to the dishonor of those who give the orders takes more class than any naysayer could imagine.

as far as what you saw and did...the VA is a strong supporter of EMDR therapy.  It is designed specifically for PTSD.  Get some help my friend.  I watched my uncle carry visions and terrors of Nam to his grave.  You deserve to let go of that.
