Raindrops fall from skies of blood upon the dying men Who say their final prayers to Gods who take them home again. I can’t envy the man who travels all alone And tells the soldiers’ families he’s never coming home. Raindrops fall from skies of blood upon a wooden case Mother can’t stop crying since She saw my brother’s face. That night Mon went quiet. I went to her and when I saw her empty eyes I knew she’d never cry again. Rain falls down for the soldiers; rain falls down for me. Hiding all my broken tears in its melody. The soothing sound of silent rain falling from above Will take the pains of wars away And wash away the blood. Raindrops fall from skies of blood and children pay the price. And eyes that never saw the world are opened to its lies. Ignorance and all the things I never saw before Have hit me where it hurts the most; the ravages of war Rain falls down for the soldiers; rain falls down for me. Hiding all my broken tears in its melody. The soothing sound of silent rain falling from above Will take the pains of wars away And wash away the blood. |

When I finished reading the last sentence I realized - as I was looking out of my window -, that I was expecting it to be raining. Nice work. |

You do them proud, my darling, but nothing will ever wash away the blood. Sassoon would tell you from the asylum, sent by Graves to save him from a court martial. 'They' slaughtered a generation on the fear of revolution. We shall rise again, oh yes we will. |
