"Texas" To All Peoples Who Love Their Homeland. As the Rio Grande River ever wanders to the sea, From it's banks of rocks and sand ever striving to be free! There's a story about Texas that needs to be told. That is truly beneficial for both young and old! From the South came Vaqueros driving Longhorns to the North.' Twas a feat they could do with the American Quarter-Horse! When the horseless carriage was created, in West Texas they did find Another kind of Gold ‘twas truly a special kind!' Twas Black Gold, Texas Tea Oil don't you know. It enabled many a Texan to put on a really big show! Texas is home of the only American breed steer. The Santa Gertrudas Breed has made history that's clear! Each time you go to Mc'Donalds to eat a Quarter-pounder you see, 'Tis Santa Gertrudas beef cooked oh so tenderly! A City South of Red River has a history oh so bright. About Tom Landry, Roger Staubach, Bob Lilly, Randy White! Texas music truly has,A long great legacy. Bob Wills and Texas Playboys,Willie Nelson, Buddy Holly! From it's mountains,To it's beaches,Texas truly has shown, To the world Texas is,A country all it's own! AL Inmon |

Texas pride! Gotta love it! But you forgot to mention Stevie Ray Vaughn and ZZ top. Ray Charles lived in Houston, Charlie Pride, and don't forget Matthew McConnaughy. :P Im born and bred Texan, lived in other states and countries and never seen more state pride, the only ones that come close are New York and Britain. I was substitute teaching this morning and we pledged allegiance to the American and the Lone Star State flag. I didn't know that about Santa Gertrudas beef. I guess you learn something new everyday! Good and informative read full of a lot of pride. |

Thanks for the history lesson! Texas is a "country" that I have always wanted to visit. I have several friends from there and they are all my kind of people! Stand proud, dear Texan! Enjoyed the read! EA |

I know some Texans... Who immigrated to the state. They were originally from another state; and reside in both states year around. But if you were to ask them which state was the best, I think they would have to say... Texas! |
