The river said to me: ” Don’t listen to the people ” they soiled all my reflections, built by the wholesome cities, the dams and the squalid bridges above the natural clarities, the river said to me: ” Do not listen to the people ” I have secrets and millenniums which know birds and fishes about the silvery dreams, I shall say to you the spring of all which breathes, of what flows in me, the madness of the nights and the salmons who come to spawn in my waters, the river said to me: ” Do not listen to the people.” ” they don’t know what they do, neither of what they think, nor what amazes them “, ” I know the clarity, the sky and the love ” said to me the river. ” Do not listen to the people, they don’t understand that heaven ignores them”. |

yann, Oh man. I think this is your best yet - hard to say as you write differently from poem to poem. I love this and I know Kacy will too. xoxoxo Alison |

Deeply captivating, dear Yann! I love what your river whispers. He seems so confident in his own "resurrection". As long as there are people who care not everything will be lost. There is a greater power that will establish new equilibrium, to mend what has been ruined by human ignorance of Nature's value. Thank you, dear Yann. This is precious! Love, Margherita |

Jesus, Yann, I'm BLOWN away! ” I know the clarity, the sky and the love ” said to me the river. ” Do not listen to the people, they don’t understand that heaven ignores them”. |

Yann, I love and deeply understand your bond and conversation with the river. I really don't want to be anybody other than me, but if I was forced to choose to be another person, I would be the fictional Maya Doolittle, daughter of Dr Doolittle, both of whom talk to animals and understand each word when animals talk back to them. On second thoughts, I don't do too badly at talking to animals of all kinds and at understanding what they say, but it takes me a while longer to understand than it does Maya! I even have a poem here somewhere in the archives called Conversation with a Burchell Zebra Foal and His Mamma. Please tell your river from me, that I try to promote conservation and anti-pollution as much as I can here in South Africa - and that I, too, understand and love the things it loves and that I don't do too well at understanding people. Thanks Owl for what you say which is very important for me, I understand the fact to hear or talk to animals as a transcendance, something that enlights life and spirit...God bless you for protecting nature, I guess there is a lot of nature in south africa, so a lot to do. best wishes yann |

This is a poignant piece, to say the least, and I like it. Nevertheless, I wasn't totally drawn into the river itself; the flow and pacing could be re-worked, what do you think. Again, a very good poem ![]() |
