Baby Enea’s eyes

*

Asleep in my arms
Enea is immersed in joy.
To whom does he smile
behind his closed eyes?
What dreams does he dream?
What is it that drives him into ecstasy?
Where is this secret place
where he goes back to play,
to skip, to dance, to fly?

Something transcends
what can be perceived.
He sleeps in my arms
yet his mind roams upper spheres.

Suddenly he opens his eyes
and to my surprise he smiles.
Eyes in eyes we explore
each other’s mysteries.
In my heart I give grace
for this perfect little miracle
that is enriching our lives.

His eyes are portals to paradise
they share amazing truths I know
but I fear that somewhere along the way
I have lost the key of interpretation.
I need to search for it within my soul.

Baby Enea’s eyes are wise.
He knows about love
of this I am aware
and then it dawns upon me:
love is the key,
love is the key.

(dedicated to my third grandson, Enea, who today is one month old)

Oh Margherita!!  What a glorious poem this is.  You've conveyed God's love
and the miracle that is life in the most beautiful way.  A newborn
baby surely brings out the best in us. Lovely poem, good poetess!

babies are so nice, margherita this poem seems written by an angel watching a baby in a renaissance painting, I love very much the relationshipbetween the poet and the baby...thanks for the beautiful poem.

How absolutely heart-warming and I know this too Margherita.  I told my son only last night that every time I look at Tori or Tasha, I have heart flutters.  They are a feeling beyond any kind of love I would ever be able to explain.

An exceptionally tender write. It truly touched my

From the mouths, or in this case eyes, of babes.

Goddess grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Eric dear, now that was a pleasure to discover you have peeked in here! Thank you!

Dear Dixie, you are far too young to think of these grannie joys, you might rather want a new baby of your own maybe? I think you would love it and your daughters too!

Thank you, dear Rachael, for your kind reply. When a newborn locks eyes with you there are intense emotions, it's incredible.

Love,
Margherita

No, he doesn't know love, not yet, but he will. The love you see is your own, reflected in his innocence.
Yes, love is the key; the answer to life's riddle.
Beautiful poem by the way.

Top of the poetry chain is words about children and the connection between mother and child. You share heartfelt feelings in this one. Thanks for the good read.

Thank you so much, dear Lindsay, for your sweet comment! Probably you don't even know that it appears four times, this happens when the computer seems so slow, that we think we have to hit again and again ... the multiple messages resound like lovely echoes

Thank you, dear Al. Children are indeed an immense source of inspiration!

Suddenly he opens his eyes
and to my surprise he smiles.
Eyes in eyes we explore
each other’s mysteries.

My dear Margherita how could he not smile when he looks at his loving, doting Granny,

I'm even smiling myself. A beautiful post
from a lovely lady. love.
