The sun refused to show its face today. Fine mists mingled with drizzle and occasional serious rain, as tree hugging clouds shrouded the coastline in a chilling mass of moisture. So what is one to do when one is already coughing and sneezing? but snuggle up with books that expand the mind and heart beyond the front door. I spent time with Thoreau, pondering both nature and man. Oct 6, 1840, Journal vol 1: "The revolution of the seasons-is a great and steady flow-it reminds me of the undulation of the back in animals of the cat kind-a graceful-peaceful-motion like the swell on lakes and seas. No where does any rigidity grow upon nature-" Try as I may my attempts to portray nature as smoothly as Henry David Thoreau are at best feeble. But I shall keep trying. Today had a few gloomy moments, as I dearly wanted to walk my pathway though I knew it was best to remain indoors. But the pine trees peeking through those misty mountains kept me staring out the window with a smile. And as Thoreau also wrote in Journal vol 1 Sept 5, 1841: "Sometimes a day serves only to hold time together" |

Kacy, your attempts to portray nature or to do anything at all, may be many, many, many things, but "feeble" is not one of those things. In fact that concept makes me giggle at how ludicrous it is, as I am sure it will do many people. Giggles. Smiles. I love your poetry, but even more I love the voice in your poetry - esPECially your Oregon morning walks (and non-walks!). I am sorry and concerned to hear that you are coughing and sneezing and that you had some gloomy moments, but glad (but NOT surprised!) to hear that there was something to make you smile. I have heard of tree-huggers, but was delighted to be introduced to cloud tree-huggers! Tigger and I were fascinated at Thoreau's cat-back simile. Meeows, woofs and huggles Tigger, Daisy and Owl |

Thank you, Kacy, for another memorable work. For me, your style is more memorable than that of Henry David, as you tend to keep your work clean and visual, Thoreau tends to get carried away by his wordiness. Although there is no disputing the value of his work, what you do is more buoyant, hopeful, and inclusive. My sincere thanks for what you do so well. Kacy Kacy~ I love how you sum up nature in all it's finery, even when the clouds are hovering and the sky is falling. I find your poem cleansing and calm, and I adore reading you. |

Wonderful offering, dear Kacy! Staying inside increases the melancholy, no doubt. I am also coughing and sneezing, but went out (to the pharmacy!)... but then here the day was filled with warm sunshine. Would have loved to walk along with you, in a way I have done it through your most captivating words. Be well, beautiful poetess! Love, Margherita |
