time traveler shadows
are assumed to be
invisible

the sky was brilliantly bright
with a few clouds
over mer Les Saintes-Maries

three small sail boats
rode the waves
alongside the green algae

your bold brushstrokes
captured
the moment perfectly

I stood as close as I dared,
a shadow within the shadow
of greatness

for a moment,
time stood suspended
for both of us

suddenly, a nearby gull
made eye-contact with me,
fluffed his feathers and flew off

at that moment
you turned your head
and gazed in my direction

the brisk breeze ruffled your hair
as you held a filled paintbrush in mid-air,
straining to discern the apparition before you

but all too soon the moment slipped away
and you turned your eyes back to the sea,
blending blues and greens as only a master can do

but as I turned to walk away,
you shifted your gaze again and smiled,
as if to say ~au revoir, madame~

Oh wow, what a captivating poem, Kacy.
Every thought blends into one another, and takes on a life of it's own.

Magical!!!

"I stood as close as I dared,
a shadow within the shadow
of greatness"--my favorite lines.

I love your way with words--you're not overly loquacious and your images pack a punch.  Great writing.

Each poem of yours that I have the pleasure of reading, fills me with wonder. Kacy, you are a 'wonder'-ful poetess. I stand in awe of your talent and your insightful, seeing eyes, heart, and soul. You are beautiful.

Thank you, dear Kacy, for time traveling with us. This was a breathtaking vision. Probably you had this painting in your mind ...

I think the Master does get in touch with you, as he perceives your love so sincere and deep.

Wonderful!

Love,

Oh, Kacy, this is, I think, the very best of your Vincent poems!  How many times have I said that of how many poems, I wonder, but each time, it is true.

I only remembered to breathe several seconds after I had finished reading it.

I am suuuuuuuuuuuure that he was aware of you down the time-travel line!

What an exceptional experience it was to read this poem!  This going to wear out from being read over and over again in my Midnitesun folder.  I'm off to read it again.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Lori, thank you for the "captivating" comment!

Alwye, thanks dear lady, I have often been 'loquacious' in the past.

Linda, you are too kind, but I really enjoy having you visit my offerings!

Yes, Margherita, you have the painting I was focusing on. I love that one!

Diana, LOL, happy you enjoyed this. Van Gogh was incredibly versatile.

Kacy, thank you very much for this one.  I have no doubt whatsoever that you were seen by Vincent:  he existed in his own Reality.
Best regards

Diana, I have a photo of that painting
on my desktop, and stare at it frequently.

Jim, thank you so much for that comment!

Maybe that is why the Masters are gifted so:
they see the things we mere mortals cannot,
and they translate it so well,
as you did here with this wonderful work,
