Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Blandness
Barricades the abyss
Bartered joyous white
For protection from
The hopeless black

Demons still dance
Outside the sacred circle
Of ash and salt
My island
Of gray

Caruso kept alive
Survived
Sans civilization
Price of admission
Memories
Ghosts of convenient amenities

Gratitude
Stable attitude
Chemically balanced
Gray matter
Still pineing
For my white high

beautiful piece, but this blew me away...

Survived
Sans civilization

Whoa Lori, your Muse is really trippin' today!  What a brilliantly constructed piece.  So many superb visuals, but I especially love "...Demons still dance
Outside the sacred circle
Of ash and salt..."
If this is what it produces, I long for a chemical imbalance.
Peace,
Jim

Lori--
This is wonderful!
Each stanza was so essential to the poem.
What a wonderfully balanced description of the imbalance.
Thank you for sharing...
