mistress of silk and metal solutions
the tattoo man weaves pores into portraits
his ends are the pricking steps of dancers
on a moan song sea where footprints are rain

some other hemingway has his afternoons
catching last breaths in the steal gray smoke
then licking the centers out with tongues
that speak only vulgar anthem lyricocities

that pray to the prey of seldom sunday mornings
so often nailed on new timber for a worshiping
and then breakfast before target practice
shopping for rich man's dreams in a down pour

and would her god bless her in horizontal windows

Once again, DS, you have presented a burnished portrait, with rust showing at the edges.  This picture comes with its own world-weary baggage:  tired, but determined to keep on keepin' on.  I really like the phrase "some other hemingway has his afternoons catching last breaths in the steal gray smoke" -  As always, DS, your visuals are almost overwhelming, in their dark, tired primal colours, depicting sad and lonely people, each one a story that you tell so well.

I like the whole... but that first verse is pure magic... and has me in its spell. *S*

My lord!  Did you do that painting?  It is spectacular DS, not to mention the poem it sits upon.  Any more art to share somewhere?  I absolutely love the sum of the parts that make this presentation.

What a fine piece of artistry you have created here DS. I am speechless... and if you knew me, you'd know that's near impossible to achieve

So I take my hat off to you.

This write is a champion of free verse. Really. I love the way you spun in so delicately other poetic devices, just to make the poem even more fascinating.

Much enjoyed!
