I feel the sweat Pouring out the pores of a pasty face I did not want, As I sit, backed up in a corner Of a room I cannot escape, With its black stainless paint And old rotten floor. The light that hangs From another corner blinks off and on, Shows the wide open door And every other second I see A glimpse of a world I have not reached. I'm scared. Chills shiver down my legs And into my toes Then out into a life I may never know, And I breathe, So that maybe the chills Will whisk away my breath, So it may see What I don't want to see, Touch what I cannot, And Love What I dare not love. Oh, I could leave, Get up Easily And walk out, But I'm scared. Not scared that the world Won't except me, but that it will. Scared that I will love it, But its not my home. It's not where I belong. The hardest part about writing poetry, |

Nicely done, free. I think we have all been there, when the clock has stopped and it is time to move on. You capture the apprehension very nicely. Thanks. Sutra 4: Do not expect your Path to be smooth. It will have rocks, slippery portions, and parts that are washed away completely. Persevere. |

Yes, I have felt this fear that you write of so well. Good job - you are not alone. Not at all. Alison |

I know the feeling: to be scared and not know why. But now I know why: the fear is from people who have no souls. They rape and kill and have no guilt. They are human snakes. No more soul than a snake. They look human but they are not. But know I know the answer to it: "fear knocked on the door, faith answered, there was no one there." I don't try to improve people's poems: "tell a tale but seldom twice, give a stone before advice." |
