Autumn rains poured from the heavens
lining the sky in silk shades of gray.

The clouds waltzed in silence to faraway music
caught up with indifferent winds.

As the curtain fell from the sky
and tears of the heart welled
and caught my breath.

Skipping through the pain and promise
slipping sideways through transparent sheets
isolating my sorrow in warm pockets of rain.

Awwwwwwe, you've described the rains so well. They truly do have a special way of bringing about the melancholy. Anyway, we've just had our first rains here and I haven't had that much time to really meditate upon them, yet, but, after reading your poem, I  have gained some inspiration. Well, at least, to get out and skip around a bit. Smiles.

God bless, Love, and Light,

-Bob

"Skipping through the pain and promise
slipping sideways through transparent sheets
isolating my sorrow in warm pockets of rain." beautifully written, as always, Lori.

We are getting the October 40 degree rains that may turn into snow this week~~ too cold, too soon for me.

WOW! This is really good. It would actually fit really well in a chain poem/short story I'm working on called "The Brrr, The Gray". Would you like to be included it?

'They' say that indifference is the opposite of love.

That's what I am reminded of in this poem somehow.

Blues Serenade - I'm reminded of rain mixed with tears while walking the streets of New York wet by water blown by those indifferent winds as Spanish and Jamaican music filter between the droplets. Hadn't thought of that in years and the effect afterwards that seemed to cleanse the soul and its streets and its air. Thanks for the memories Blues Serenade. Namyh

I enjoyed this, it conveys a sense of moving to me. Loved the last verse.
