Starting Over Looking inside out At what I want From me Trying to follow The flow of emotion Into reason With remembering Feeling homesick For places That never really existed Getting used to What I’m unaccustomed to Bit by bits and pieces The kaleidoscope Crashes images Into mosaic Pain stained glass windows Thrown open My heart reaches out To touch the rain And grow roots In virgin ground |

I had to do some starting over last year... and it's tough. Good luck establishing new roots! *S* |

Lori, Only because I know your voice personally, can I read this the way I would hear it. Your voice is unique in sound; we'll work on getting you to voice over your poetry. I know of a few folk here who know the tricks of that specific trade...we'll talk to them. ![]() Good job! |

Lori - The opportunity for growth usually doesn't come as a torrential downpour. It more often comes one drop at a time. It's the fearless willingness to reach for those drops that makes roots grow and your work here a part of us all. Much enjoyed. Namyh |

Chalmette Guy-Feels great to be heard, Thanks! Now that my friends have drug me out of the Poet’s closet you will be hearing more from me…..so I have been informed. Namyh-Monsoons and floods happen too, all is a part of growth. Sometimes out of deepest turmoil I find unexpected blessing of joy. To continue to reach out with love lies the heart of my Faith. Brneyedgrly-Fantastic writing?! Well, I am honored and feel very warmly welcomed, thank you so much. Southern -Glad to hear from you again, glad you could relate. Thanks Sunshine- It clearly states "be kind" it does not say scare me to death with things I know nothing about. Voice over? Sounds like a Ventriloquist's act and I get stage fright. Okay, friend as long as I'm out of the closet......... I am your humble student. |

I did enjoy the poem and I can relate to many of the concepts. I would have found the poem easier to read if it had been grouped a little differently (like if the third line was added onto the 2nd). |

dragngrl28 hey-good eye, problem is I do that alot. I'm still debating if it is chronic problem or just the sound of my voice. I'll throw a little Sunshine on it and see what grows up. Thanks for taking the time and interest in my work. |

I do the same thing. I have a certain pattern in my head and when I read the poem that is what appears and it is difficult for me to recreate that pattern so that others read it the same way I imagine it. Does that make any sense? I'm still re-working poems that are several years old. |

Nicely done, Lori. You speak of a place that I inhabited 26 years ago. You weave a complex wordspell that continues to captivate me. Jim Morrison once said, "It ain't the destination, man, it's the trip." We must appreciate each aspect of the past as each bit contributes to whom we are today. Namaste Jim Sutra 25: Remember that a pile of ordure is simply that: Seek not to give it meaning. |

So glad that you brought your talent out of the closet. Feel so fortunate that I was there at your first public reading and I was blown away then. Keep 'em coming, lady poet. I've been dropping your name and bragging that I know ya. Louise Ryan aka Bridget Shenachie |
