The Vagrant Lighthouse (Ballade) The lighthouse ravaged on the shore does vanish in the ocean’s spray where rustic hinges on the floor reveal the broken hearted stray that once was noble in its day but now’s a recluse, boarded shrine that fallen stair lain bare displays no more the battered light will shine. Yet, deep inside the heart, the core a sure and steady surge does stay the lighthouse on the verge of lore when, in renewal’s glow, a way does intervene, does make obey what forces God and time define, wherein, the worthy and the raised, no more the battered, light will shine. The light within, on high, does pour across the seascape of the bay so bold it’s like a lion’s roar to warn the wayward, gone astray that here the dormant and decayed will not be banished or recline in solitude or in dismay no more – The battered light will shine! The lighthouse reminisced conveys that fortitude and strength combined will never dim in disarray – No! More, the battered light will shine! God bless, Lighthouse Bob |

Great write, and the barely hidden message comes through as clearly as the Light once shined. |

Bob, not only was I pleased to see you posting in Open (it's been awhile!), but you posted a poem about a Lighthouse ~ and even more intriguing, it is a Vagrant lighthouse. I used to search for old, abandoned lighthouses. Some ot the treks that I have made to find them, were arduous, indeed ~ but worth it! I would sketch them and often made watercolour paintings from my drawings. You did a wonderful job of capturing the feel of a "Vagrant Lighthouse", dear Lighthouse Bob! Love & Light-Houses, Linda |

Wonderful poem Bob. You know I saw my first lighthouse with Nan in Cape Cod, and fell in love with them. We visited almost all I think that were in the Cape, and each one looked like it had a different story to tell. You captured the process of aging for not only a lighthouse but some people I know in this poem. So nice to read you again, and I trust you are well. |

Linda and Sharon, Why thank you to both of you and I must say that you both have had much more experience with lighthouse visiting than what I've had and would absolutely love to perhaps one day have the opportunity to see the inside of one. So you know, my pen name comes from a Christian movement that was going on about the time I joined ‘Passions’ a couple of years ago (smiles) and I liked the idea of ‘me’ being a lighthouse and, soooooo, well, here I am – Lighthouse Bob. Again, thank you both so much for your responses and for your expounding a bit on your life experiences. I do appreciate both of you very, very much. God bless, -Bob |
