This is the first poem I've written in a long, long time.  Hope you enjoy it.

I linger under the waning light
as the Earth cools with a melancholy glow
stained reddish black with failed promises of today
escaping into the welcomed solitude of night

Alone I wonder the empty streets, dark and cold
frosted tears mix with warm lips – a fading bitterness
that no one will ever taste
save my shadowed dreams

I take company in their fading echoes
coaxing my soul into quiet submission
And then I smile, I smile into the pain of tomorrow
That this night may be held in solemn reverence.

Were you inspired by someone else's poetry or something?

I think this is a very beautifully written, melancholic poem. Nice to see you back.

Love,
Margherita

Thanks for the comments everyone.  Will be getting back into regular writing... something more cheerful next time perhaps

And Samer, yes, I was inspired by someone's poetry.  Good poetry in general has that effect, which is why it's so beautiful and even theraputic.
