Beautiful with a drop of her eye-shadow
rolling off her cheek,
her contour dress watched
as her heels stood a few inches off the concrete.

It was hard for her to speak;
with her brown, silk hair, perfectly neat.
Her bangs covering her forehead
as they lightly touched the tip of her eyelashes.

A cold minute, with a cold stare,
she ran her thoughts to her eyes,
and her tears began to fall.

She was stranded, stranded inside a cab,
a cab that couldn't solve her ache
Even if it steered its way to her third story, brick apartment building.

She was alone,
with her friends amiss.
They walked away as if they were strangers at a cafe,
turning their heads like a defiant storm pushing through the quiet wake.

So she lay in her bed,
with Katharine Hepburn watching over her,
as Sinatra played in the background, again and again.
